NEW: SEAC holding annual Community Resource Fair
The Portsmouth Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is holding its annual Community Resource Fair. Students and families are invited to the JE Parker Recreation Center (2430 Turnpike Road, Portsmouth, VA 23707) Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, for giveaways, food, special prizes as well as information for community resources. NEW: Fourth Annual Color Run taking place Saturday, April 27
Portsmouth Public Schools is again hosting the PPS Runs It 3K Color Run at Churchland High School. The annual event helps to raise funds to provide swim lessons for PPS families. Last year, more than 1,000 participants were in attendance. This year’s event will take place Saturday, April 27, at 9 a.m.
School Orchestra Artistic Residency program underway
Portsmouth Public Schools is again partnering with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for the School Orchestra Artistic Residency (SOAR) program, where musicians will come in during the school day to work with all PPS middle and high school music programs. This successful collaboration with the school division has been in place for a number of years, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra provides this service to teachers and students at no charge to the school division. NEW: Apply now for the PPS Bright Start Preschool program
Staff is now accepting applications for the PPS Bright Start Preschool Program. Families with a child who will be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 30 can complete and return their applications through Thursday, May 30. Families can visit the PreK Registration webpage for more information, including how to schedule an in-person registration appointment.
