Yolanda E. Thomas is a Portsmouth native who is a proud graduate of I.C. Norcom High School.
She is also a graduate of the University of Virginia where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Chemical Engineering. Mrs. Thomas also became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) in
April 2009. Yolanda Thomas is the wife of Maceo Thomas and have three sons, Julius, Maceo Jr., and
Miles.
Mrs. Thomas early career focused on working with nuclear technology with the Department of
Energy. From there, she went on to work as a risk consultant and project manager with the firm ABS
Consulting, Inc. supporting engineering firms and government entities performing risk-based investment
modeling and root cause analysis. Mrs. Thomas’ professional career also includes time spent at ADP, a
Fortune 500 company, located in Norfolk, VA where she was selected into the competitive Emerging
Leaders Program. Mrs. Thomas current role is Vice President, Operational Risk where her duties include
identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk for a regional bank.
Mrs. Thomas also believes in serving her community and her volunteer outreaches demonstrate
that belief. She is a member of the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She
also serves on the board for The M.A.N. Foundation, which provide services such as resume writing and
professional training for inmates post-incarceration. In addition, Mrs. Thomas volunteers with the
Salvation Army Toys for Tots, Portsmouth’s Volunteers for the Homeless, and the Hampton Roads
Scholastic Chess Club.
